PRAYER AT SUNRISE

I see the beauty of the earth,
I feel the joy of life,
But I long for something more ...
Something to fill my empty soul.

Grant, O Lord, a grateful heart unto me,
For the joy that I feel,
For the beauty I see;
Fill me with hope and charity,
Move me to make others happy.

PRAYER AT MID-DAY

Lord,
Teach me to live
Thy word to keep;
Teach me how to die
And enjoy Thy peace.

PRAYER AT SUNSET

Lord,
My ears have been deaf to thy Word,
My eyes have been blind to thy work,
My hands have been idle,
My heart has been cold,
Forgive me, dear Lord.

Lord,
Teach me to live
Thy Word to keep;
Teach me to do
Thy work on earth;
Teach me to love
Both friend and foe.
(1961)

HAIKU PRAYER

I know I have sinned:
I ask for God's forgiveness:
I rest in His love.

NEW YEAR'S PRAYER

Gracious and merciful God,
Grant us the grace
To desire for ourselves and
For our loved ones
Wealth in spiritual values.
Grant that we desire for ourselves
And for those around us
A healthy and hearty appetite
For spiritual food.
Grant that we may grow in faith and grace
And prosper in our relationships,
Flourish in our friendships,
And grow in the fruits of the Spirit.
Amen.
(Jan. 3,1997)
